Description
I captured this image of comet Hyakutake on March 27, 1996 in Louisburg, Kansas. Had to get away from the lights of Greater Kansas City to get a nice dark sky, and it was pretty chilly out there with my old Minolta X700 film camera as I estimated shutter speeds for this. I hope that everyone gets a chance to see a similarly striking comet in their lifetime as it is truly spectacular.

I'm glad to see this in the Cosmic Perspective contest, good luck, I will definitely give it a vote.
Christopher McKenzie replied:
Thanks. I am glad to hear that, Vicki. Also glad my working 'blind' with film stock was a success.

As an astrophotographer myself, I am in awe of this one.
Christopher McKenzie replied:
I was stupid not to get more photos than I did when this occurred. Oh, well. I have fond memories of being knocked out of my shoes when I saw it in person.
