Artist's Description

Life on the Kansas prairie was prosperous in the past, but life could be hard. The Flint Hills seem to be littered with old Limestone structures and foundations as these sturdy building blocks can last for decades after the wood has rotted away in the open elements.

Update Sept 2023: Well, it has been 20 months or so since my last stop here and things have changed significantly. For some reason the entire homestead has been razed and is only now a memory. Good thing I was able to capture this when I did.

As a child I received my love of art from my mother who I watched write poetry, paint with pastels and draw with pencils and charcoal. I followed her by painting with Acrylics and drawing some myself as I went through my teenage years, and I also had a couple of inspiring art teachers in middle school. As an adult I was able to afford a camera and I transitioned to photography. I am based in the Midwest, in a suburb of Kansas City, and although I capture time with my camera primarily as a hobby I take it very seriously. Though most of my work comes from close to home I have also captured quite a few images in other parts of the US from my travels.
