Description
Thick glacier wash-out silt covers the low tide area next to Anchorage, Alaska. It can be pretty, but the silt is actually very dangerous as sometimes unwary tourists meander out into the large fields of the soft, fine grain material. Acting like quick-sand the silt often grabs hold of peoples legs to a point where they cannot get themselves free. The returning high tide comes in quickly and if people are not rescued in time they can perish trapped in the mud.
